settled near Garrett, Summit Township, Somerset County, PA.
Was drafted into Co. E, 171st PA Infantry - November 2, 1862-August 7, 1863
Enlisted in Co G, 61st PA Infantry on 25 Oct 1864. Discharged 28 Jun 1865, as a Private.
Valentine married Elizabeth Long after the War, and had 4 sons and 3 daughters.
He died in 1903 and rests in Ridgeview Cemetery, Garret, Somerset Co., PA
