The earliest known grave
is that of Mary Ann Schrock in 1835. We
are proud to have a Mexican War Veteran,
Daniel Whetzel, who was instrumental in
starting the Kingwood Church of God Sunday
School. We also have Adam Sanner, Jacob
Phillippi, James Cook (who lost an arm) and
Harrison Wiltrout, all Veterans of the Civil
War. John May is a WWI Veteran, and
Thomas Sanner is from WWII. From storekeepers
to station agents, miners and farmers, and a
locomotive engineer, all are buried in Mt.
Union. Even the parents of U. S.
Congressman J. Buell Snyder, who represented
Fayette and Somerset County are here.
This is a beautiful hilltop location from
which you can see Mt. Davis to the east, and
the windmills at Mill Run to the west. Lots
are available.
